What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device. They can help a website recognise the same browser between requests, preserve a signed-in session or protect a form submission.
This notice also covers similar technologies that store information on, or access information from, your device. We do not use local storage, tracking pixels, device fingerprinting or advertising technology.
Cookies we use

The cookies are set by PFD Monitor, not by an advertising network. Exact duration can be shorter if you sign out, clear browser data or the cookie is replaced.
Limited analytics
We count visits to broad types of page, searches performed, searches producing no results, filters used and clicks from PFD Monitor to an official source. We use these totals only to improve the service.
The analytics code sends only an approved event name, a broad page type and a coarse result category to PFD Monitor. It does not send the address of the individual record, the words typed into search, your account details, a visitor ID or a session ID. PFD Monitor immediately adds the event to a daily aggregate counter. Microsoft Azure hosts the database and monitoring tools used to inspect those aggregate totals.
We do not load the Application Insights browser tracking SDK. Analytics does not set a visitor cookie, use local or session storage, follow you to another service, build a profile or select content or advertising for you.
Why there is no accept banner
Necessary cookies may be used without consent. UK rules also allow limited statistical technology without consent when its sole purpose is producing aggregate information to improve the service, provided people receive clear information and a simple, free way to object.
Limited analytics are on unless you turn them off. This is not consent by default: PFD Monitor relies on the statistical-purposes exception and keeps the analytics within its limits. If we introduce individual journey tracking, profiling, advertising or another purpose outside that exception, it will remain off unless you actively consent.
You can change the setting at any time using in this page or the footer. Turning analytics off stops further analytics collection on this browser. Necessary security and account cookies are unaffected.
How to control cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop sign-in, account controls, subscriptions and forms from working correctly. Public evidence pages should remain readable, although some state may not persist between requests.
Future changes
We will reassess this approach before changing the information collected, its purpose, its retention or the technology involved. We will update this notice and introduce prior consent if a future use falls outside the statistical-purposes exception.
