Recurring concern
Uncontrolled public access to helium products
First reported 20 Nov 2013•Latest report 23 Oct 2023
What this concern includes
Includes failures to restrict, regulate, warn about or otherwise control public access to helium-filled balloons, helium canisters and comparable helium products when the asserted safety concern is the risk created by unrestricted availability or purchase.
Not included
- Excludes helium-cylinder valve, gas-volume and other product-design controls where public access is not the shared unsafe condition; these belong to the existing helium-canister safety-controls concern.
- Excludes general toxic-gas hazards and unrelated hazardous-substance sales where helium access is not the material concern.
- Excludes factual descriptions of helium-related deaths or helium toxicity without an asserted deficiency in access control, warning or regulation.
- Excludes general children's-venue supervision or product-labelling failures unless they directly concern uncontrolled public access to helium products.
